先日、筆者のメールに詐欺メールが届いた。飛行機事故で銀行に残された１５５０万ドル≒１億４２百万円を親族になりすましをして、手に入れませんか？と言う内容。送ってきたのは、西アフリカのブルキナファソの会計士と言う設定。
こんなメールで誰が引っかかるのかと不思議だが、よくあるパターンの手数料を払えとは書かれていない。連絡先聞いているだけだ。返信してきたカモの脂をじっくりと絞り出すのであろう。
アフリカでは、移動手段は飛行機が多く、事故も頻繁に起こっている。アフリカの事情を知るものなら、飛行機事故詐欺もなるほどと思える。
今回の翻訳は、友人の米国公認会計士のLady Justice女史にお願いをした。
